CMH Fashion Week is a non-profit organization that showcases local and emerging designers. Throughout the year they support local fashion events and end with their own fashion show. For the 2013 year, I had the opportunity to establish the brand for the organization. In previous years they had always adopted the Pantone Color of the Year and because this was something that they expressed was important I decided to take that idea and evolve it.
I decided to implement a color scheme based on CMYK. The colors would be slightly different in hue to make them more cohesive and this way, the organization could choose to use the Pantone Color as their primary or secondary color that year.
As I moved these colors into the digital space, secondary images would start off on a grayscale and turn to color on hover or click. Each page would mostly identify with its own color from the CMYK palette.
Open stroked boxes would be incorporated throughout the site. They would showcase headlines, buttons, titles, features--the idea was to connect this element back to the boxed logo that remained unchanged but incorporate it so that it was less heavy on the page.
With this strategy of branding, each year the Pantone Color could be easily presented and a design theme could connect back to the brand due to its openness or through small lined graphic elements.
